(AEWV) Wage Thresholds

Steve Baker • July 8, 2025

INZ have made changes to Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) wage thresholds.

Wage threshold updates

From 18 August 2025, these AEWV related thresholds will be updated to reflect the June 2024 median wage of $33.56 an hour. This helps keep the system fair, protects local wages, and supports employers who need skilled workers.

These changes may affect AEWV applicants:

  • earning twice the median wage ($67.12 an hour) — they may be exempt from the labour market test and minimum skills threshold.
  • earning 1.5 times the median wage ($50.34 an hour) — they may be eligible for the maximum continuous stay of 5 years on an AEWV.

These updates are part of our ongoing work to maintain a fair, consistent, and responsive immigration system that supports employers and protects local wages.

Parent Resident Visa Category

INZ Application Fee from $5810. Sponsor’s income threshold. This starts at 1.5 times the New Zealand median wage for 1 parent, and increases by half the median wage amount for each additional parent.

The next Parent Category ballot draw is expected to take place on Tuesday, 12 August 2025.

To be included, applicants must submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) by 31 July 2025.
